Grace Leeuwen

About the Physician

Dr. van Leeuwen is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar and has over 15 years of experience in Pediatric Cardiac Critical Care. She is a Senior Attending in Sidra Medicine's Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, joining in May 2019. She is also a member of the ethics committee and is responsible for the Neonatal and Pediatric ECMO transport program.

Aicha Rifai

About the Physician

Dr. Aicha Rifai is a member of the faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine in Qatar (WCM-Q) who volunteers weekly to see patients at the Women's' Psychiatry Clinic at Sidra Medicine.

She is the director of the medical students' clerkship in Psychiatry at WCMQ and is active in education, administration, and research. She is American Board certified in Psychiatry and in Internal Medicine.

Her areas of interest are Women Mental Health, Students Mental Health, and the application of the Humanities in Medicine.

Ricardo Garcia Branco

About the Physician

Dr. Branco joined Sidra Medicine in November 2018 as an Attending Physician in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). He Co-chairs the Clinical Effectiveness and Clinical Audit groups at Sidra Medicine.

Dr. Branco trained in Brazil and the UK, where he obtained a PhD in Pediatrics at the University of Cambridge. He worked as a Consultant in Pediatric Intensive Care at Cambridge University Hospitals from 2011 to 2018.

Andrew Durward

About the Physician

Dr. Durward has been a senior consultant in cardiac intensive care at Sidra Medicine since December 2017. Prior to this, Dr. Durward worked as a consultant in pediatric care for over 20 years at Evelina Children’s, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London.

Dr. Durward’s special interests include extracorporeal life support where he is pediatric ECMO director at Sidra Medicine and leads a complex airway and interventional bronchoscopy service including airway stenting.
